Shorthand
Press goods are designed by founder Erin
Healy, a writerly type based in NYC,
and inspired by a few of her fascinations: 1) anything
to do with words – most recently,
a shorthand dictionary discovered in
a thrift shop; 2) our collective habit
of conveying emotionally laden things
in abbreviated, symbolic ways (aka: the
human condition); and 3) the daily miracle
of cards sent and received by real live
mail.
In 2010, Erin generously transferred management of Shorthand Press over to the social venture Change For A Twenty, whose activities connect Westerners looking for a way to bring mindfulness and meaning to their spending habits with Burmese and Indian children and adults in need of educational opportunity.
This line of goods features Gregg Shorthand, created by John Robert Gregg, an Irishman who emigrated to America in 1893.
